Our stay was just fantastic! The Twisted Willow Cottage was perfect in every way. The floor plan was perfect, a nice large kitchen (fully furnished) to cook in and gather, a private an quiet upstairs bedroom and the location was private and very relaxing. We had some friends and relatives over one evening to enjoy a glass of wine and the extra large deck was the perfect place for everyone to gather and mingle. Clean, clean, clean.....attention down to every detail including a special welcome treat that we found in the refrigerator when we arrived. Having the second bathroom was really important for us and it really worked out well. Just perfect in everyway, I wouldn't change a thing. I think next year we will come 2 weeks later....maybe the blackberries will be fully ripe :)

Owner Response: aymond and Jody, Thank you so much for your review. I am glad to hear you enjoyed entertaining on the deck and our kitchen. The berries are just starting to ripen so plan your next trip accordingly.. I love to make berry cobbler with the blackberries..so good. Best, Michelle and Oso

Twisted Willow Cottage is a little gem, tucked away between Graton and Forestville. If you're looking for a quiet get away with convenient access to the Alexander Valley, Russain River Valley, Dry Creek area, this place is well located. Its the perfect location for cycling and wine tasting in Sonoma County. Napa is a bit of a drive but easily reached as a day trip. Be sure to dine in the restaurants in Graton.

Owner Response: rian, Thanks for your great review. We think our cottage is also a jewel. Oso and I welcome you back for another great vacation in our lovely Wine Country. Oso and Michelle

My wife and I enjoyed a long weekend in this cottage with no complaints! The location was secluded, but definitely within close proximity to the town and several wineries. The cottage itself is well appointed with everything you would need. The owners provide coffee, tea, fruit, cheese and crackers and even a bottle of wine! There is a fireplace and a back deck for BBQ'ing. There are two TVs with digital cable and wireless internet throughout the house. The owners were quite attentive to any concern and even bought more oranges when we commented that we really liked them. There are also lots of restaurant recommendations and coupons for free tastings in the wineries around the area. Overall the place was very clean. There were a few spiders, but that its definitely to be expected in the country. Would absolutely stay here again

Owner Response: aul, Thanks for your review. We hope to see you again soon. I would like to mention that Fall is particularly beautiful around here with the grape leaves changing to yellows and oranges and then gold. There are many "harvest events" as well if you like to wine tour. Best, Michelle and Oso

Our stay at Twisted Willow couldn't have been better. The property fit every description and photo, was very clean and well maintained. We loved the quiet atmosphere and enjoyed being in the midst of trees, birds, rabbits everyday. The cottage has been furnished by someone who has their guest in mind. Everything we needed was there and we were very appreciative of the wine, cheese and teas left by the owner. The owner's friendliness and attention to detail made this a perfect vacation. We spent two weeks in the lovely Twisted Willow cottage and found it a great place to visit with relatives in the area and a wonderful retreat for thinking, meditating and grieving the recent loss of a close relative. Daily walks were perfect and the location great for taking day trips to explore wineries, farm markets, museums, lighthouses, the coast, redwoods, and many items of beauty across Sonoma County. We found many good restaurants across the region but our favorite was The Farmhouse on River Road - a great place for a birthday celebration. Nearby Willowood Market is a breakfast favorite. The owner has a good list of suggestions for eating out, sightseeing and wine tasting posted in the kitchen. A road trip across the Coleman Valley Road from Oxidental to Bodega Bay is highly recommended - it is one of the most spectacular drives we have seen anywhere. We would highly recommend Twisted Willow to anyone wanting a relaxing stay in Sonoma County. We look forward to return trips!

Owner Response: ary, Thanks so much for your kind review. We hope to see you back as well. Best, Michelle

Michelle and Oso provided this wonderful little nest for our week's stay amongst family vineyards and "real" california living. The house has all the amenities we needed for a relaxing stay with cheese and wine waiting upon arrival, and spices, coffee, tea, herbs for cooking etc. The size of twisted willow is perfect for us, and the deck served as a night stage for star and moon gazing. One afternoon, we saw a deer just down in the backyard. Perfect location to Napa, Sonoma, Bodega, Russian River area,, and only a little over 1 hour from San Francisco. This is a little gem that we will return to. Thanks Michelle and Oso for upkeeping this home so well and so welcoming for our stay. We miss being there already.

Owner Response: orma, We also particularly love sitting on the deck, watching all the wild life and the sunsets and stars at night. We look forward to your return. best, Michelle and Oso

The fireplace added a perfect note to a cozy getaway. The wine, cheese, crackers, and wine tasting coupons we found waiting for us upon arrival show a level of attention to detail that we've only found before at much more expensive accommodations. We felt very well looked after.

We stayed at the Twisted Willow Cottage over Thanksgiving for a family reunion in Windsor. As soon as we arrived, we knew we chose the right place for us (2 adults and 2 children, ages 6 and 12). The cottage is not big, but we were comfortable. My husband, who loves to cook, forgot to bring his knives. He felt that the knives in the kitchen were a bit dull. Other than this minor issue, we had a wonderful time and made wonderful memories of our stay in Sebastopol. It's extremely private, and the fireplace kept us warm throughout our stay. The bed in the bedroom was extremely comfortable. The pull-out sofa sleeper in the living room wasn't as comfortable (the bar in the middle poked through the mattress), but we made do. We absolutely love this little town and fell in love with the scenic beauty of the place. Andy's Fresh Produce Market and Pacific/Fiesta Market are a must if you're looking for fresh vegetables, fruit and meat. Hole in the Wall and Underwood Bar & Bistro are a must for breakfast and dinner, respectively. Michelle was always available to answer our questions and accommodated our requests. We will definitely be back (without kids next time)!

Owner Response: ristina and Family, Thanks for your review. Good to know about the knives, I'll get them sharpened. I know about those sofa bed mattresses, that's why I have a foam pad and 2 mattress covers to ease that darn bar. However, I am so happy you toured our lovely town and we look forward to your next visit with us(without the kids)! Michelle and Oso

I enoyed my stay at the Twisted Willow Cottage. I was seeking a clean and comfortable place to stay. The location of the cottage was excellant for both wine tasting touring and cycling! I could simply ride my bike to the biking trail less than one mile away. Excellant stores and restruants are nearby as well. The cottage is very cozy with attention to detail in warmth and hospitality. The only suggestion I would have is including a stackable washer/dryer unit. Seeking out a laundrymat and spending time in one while on vacation is not pleasent. I did not need one during my stay. I just noticed that there were none.....unless I missed seeing them!

Owner Response: eresa and Jerry, I am glad to hear your wine touring and cycling around our beautiful wineries and country roads was a a big plus for you. I agree, it would be great to have a stackable washer/dryer, not enough space, however. In the past, when my guests have asked me about this amentity, I have suggested a 3 min drive to Forestville, there is a laundramat with a great coffee shop right next door and also a wonderful breakfast place as well. In the town of Sebastopol, 12 min away, there is a fluff and fold servce if you do not want to wait for your laundry. I appreciate your feedback as to all my future guests. Michelle was so very helpful and her attention to detail is highly evident! We had everything we needed to make the most of our stay. We rented bicycles at West County Revolution in Sebastopol and biked the West County Trail on Saturday, and then on Sunday we visited Iron Horse winery (incredible views)! We took advantage of the deck and grill at the cottage to cook a feast on Saturday night (highly recommend Andy's produce market nearby) and enjoyed some of the wine we picked up on our bike ride. The queen bed upstairs was very comfortable for me and my husband, and my sister who was visiting from the East Coast said the sofabed in the living room was one of the most comfortable she's used. The cottage is so quiet and dark at night we had one of our best nights of sleep in a long time. Everything was very clean, well-maintained, and tastefully decorated. We'll definitely be back!

Our week in wine country could not have been better! The Twisted Willow Cottage was so beautiful and comfortable. The pictures on this website do not even begin to accurately portray just how gorgeous this place is. It is close to everything yet privately secluded and nestled in a lovely grove of trees. The living room opens to a large deck with table and chairs and a great barbecue. The furnishings are very comfortable and the owners have done a wonderful job in decorating. The bedroom has a very romantic feel and the bed is also very comfortable. The owners have thought of everything and they are the perfect hosts! The kitchen is well stocked and they welcomed us with a bottle of wine, cheese and crackers, and coffee and tea. Besides tasting some of the best wines in the world, there are lots of other activities close by. Northwoods Golf Course is beautiful (surrounded by amazing Redwoods) and not very expensive. We also found a great running/walking path nearby. There are several places to rent kayaks, too, though we did not get a chance to do so this trip because of the weather. Dear Michelle & Oso, What a beautiful and warm setting for our family. Thanksgiving this year! It was our grandson's first Thanksgiving, and the thankful "attendees included his parents, both sets of grandparents and dear framily friends. The smells of turkey, dressing and pumpkin pie baking filled the cottage and we all felt very much at home. The day was beautiful enough that the deck was a perfect gathering spot in the aft. Toward evening we moved to the cottage-with its warm kitchen and cozy living room and fireplace. Fate seemed to play a part in choosing the Twisted Willow Cottage-only to discover its location walking distance from our daughter's home. Thank you for being such great hosts and helping to make this first Thanksgiving with grandson Ari so very special! Sincerely, Marv & Soni Koskela

Dear Michelle & Oso, We couldn't have had a better time! The cottage is so relaxing and well laid out-we can imagine being in it in any season-out on the deck in the summer, cosy by the fire in winter. We were delighted to be "stuck" here driving in the rain and really managed to rejuvenate! Thank you for creating this wonderful & inspiring space.
